HOUSTON-LEIPZIG SISTER CITY ASSOCIATION

Our purpose is to foster friendship and business exchange between the citizens of Houston and Leipzig, Germany.

Houston and Leipzig established their sister city relationship in 1993.

Since then, vigorous exchange has deepened existing relationships and encouraged many new friendships.

Leipzig University is the second-oldest university in Germany (founded in 1403).

The beautiful voices of Leipzig's world-famous Thomaner (Boys) Choir (in existence for more than 780 years and often called Bach's Choir) delighted Houstonians in February 1998 with their debut in the United States.

With its many historical venues and institutions, the people of Leipzig nonetheless exhibit the vigorous inventiveness and joie de vivre of a truly modern society.

The Leipziger Volkszeitung is the major daily newspaper. Leipzig hosts a U.S. Consulate General that offers a variety of information about Leipzig and Germany. For visitors to our website from Leipzig, more information about Houston is available from the Greater Houston Partnership and from the daily newspaper Houston Chronicle.

Houston high school and university students brought back fond memories from their time in Leipzig, just as their counterparts extol the virtues of Houston.

Business people, Doctors, Professors, Artists, Musicians, Scientists, Teachers and Students--people from all walks of life in the two cities find joy and mutual benefit from joining hands across the ocean.

Join us and experience Houston's international connection.
